Our Idea

"Peace on earth depends on our ability to secure our living environment."

In 2009, the Earth is at the doorstep of a new Age. For everyone by now it should be clear that paying attention to the needs of our planet and living by the laws of Mother Nature or “Going Green” is the only way to give back and show that you care. When making the decision to go green, people have different options and many motivations. Not only is a green lifestyle beneficial to the environment, it can save you money and help you live healthier, but it has also become fashionable. You’ve probably noticed that green is everywhere these days - in the news, politics, fashion, and even technology, and while it's easy to get overwhelmed, it's also simple to begin making a positive impact. You hopefully are already switching off the lights while not in use, turning down the thermostat and recycling. All that perhaps helps you feel “green” already, but without thinking about the big picture of how your actions stack up, you probably cannot consider the impact of all your consumption on the environment.

What do we mean? Over a few short generations, we have become car drivers, television watchers, mall shoppers, and throwaway buyers. The irony is that while the consumer society has been super effective in harming the environment, it has failed to give us a sense of fulfillment. Consumerism has gotten us into piling on material things because we suffer from social, psychological, and spiritual hungers. The advancing growth of the consumer lifestyle around the globe marks the most rapid and fundamental change in day-to-day existence humans have ever experienced.

So if the Earth suffers when people have too much, the question is: How much is enough? What level of consumption can the planet support? When do more things cease to add appreciably to human life?

The truth is that every single thing we do every day has an impact on our planet - good or bad. Only we have the power to control our choices and, therefore, the impact we create: from where we live to what we buy, eat, and use to light our home to where and how we vacation, to how we shop, what we wear, WE can have global impact

Hostel Bogdan is the first step towards our long-term goal, which is to reconnect with the natural rhythms and cycles of the Earth and the Universe re-establishing our own inner sense of balance and harmony and to close the circle of most necessities as we begin to use our own sources of energy, food, sports and leisure. We want to restrain our needs to use ecologically destructive things and cultivate the deeper, non-material sources of fulfillment that bring happiness: family and social relationships, meaningful work, nature’s beauty and calm and leisure. At this stage of our project the main part is to be able to organize a home with guest rooms, a vegetable and fruit garden, and a horse stable and to supply them with solar batteries, own water source, and a system for their maintenance.

As globalization makes the world become smaller, we could see with ease how the lives of people (and plants and animals and ecosystems) everywhere are closely synced up with one another.

We hope our ideas bring forward environmentally aware people who are committed to a sustainable way of life and who are able to create social, cultural and economic wellbeing without diminishing biodiversity and natural resources and without exceeding the capacity of the natural environment. So in case you care about the environment and the subject of its preservation is important enough to you, or you have experience with any of the fore mentioned, we would love for you to come and stay with us in our experimental hostel, share your thoughts and experience with us, as we strive to find and understand peace and harmony in a natural way.
